THE ALPACA

More than 3,000 years ago, in the mountain ranges that form the Andean Cordillera, there reigned an emblematic people, the Incas. According to their founding myths, in favor of the gods, the Incas received many presents, including one in particular: the alpaca. A camelid that lives between 3,000 and 6,000 meters above sea level in the Peruvian and Bolivian highlands.

Behind these endearing traits, alpaca has the most exceptional fiber in the world after that of vicuña and therefore cashmere.

Divine gift obliges, its wool was reserved for the kings who wore it during great ceremonies. At Pure Alpaga we share the opinion of the Incas regarding the properties of the alpaca. On the other hand, our opinion is quite different concerning the sharing of this wonder.

SOME NUMBERS

Une fibre exceptionnelle :

An extraordinary fiber :

First, alpaca produces fiber, unlike merino sheep and cashmere goats that have wool, we explain the difference: Because alpaca does not have wool, it releases very little lanolin, between 3 and 7% against 40 to 60% on cashmere goats. Thus, no petrochemical process is needed to wash the alpaca fiber, unlike its two distant cousins. Its products are hypoallergenic.
Another advantage, because of its shape and unlike wool, the fiber does not fluff.

7 On all criteria, the baby alpaca is a fiber with exceptional properties. Indeed, it offers a unique thermal effect against the skin, it is 7 times hotter than mohair wool.

1 à 2

1 à 2 The baby alpaca is the rarest, finest and most luxurious alpaca quality. It does not come from baby animals, but alpacas aged 1 to 2 years, who offer their fiber for the first time. This will be the finest quality produced by the animal.

3Baby Alpaga is 3 times stronger than sheep’s wool and 2 times more than mohair.

3

3 A rare fiber. The production of cashmere is more than 3 times higher in quantity. In addition, alpaca production is considered to be much more environmentally friendly.

24

24The alpaca has 24 natural colors and it’s the colors we use in Pure Alpaga. We only use dyes on the following colors: red, orange, blue, yellow, purple and black (can not have an intense black without dyeing), these come from the Oeko-Tex and Wrap labels for a guarantee respect for the skin and the environment

-30 Due to the shape of its fiber and its origin, alpaca fiber is one of the only natural thermoregulating materials. In a tropical climate, at high altitude, temperatures vary between 25 ° C during the day and -30 ° C at night. These extreme temperatures naturally create many micro air pockets in the alpaca hair that will keep the body temperature of the animal during cold weather and allow good breathability during warmer temperatures. In contact with your skin, the process will be the same!

Now, you have to ask yourself the question "But why have we never heard about it before? And rest assured, we said the same thing at the beginning!
